Utilising space outside the home

To utilise garage space, we designed the roof to avoid purlins by running an RSJ down the roof ridge. We also ran the joists a full block lower than standard and built 3 blocks on the flat from here in order to gain a minimum height of 600 mm in the lowest points upstairs.

Full floor space was available upstairs in this garage while not appearing to look two story from the elevations. This was a great way to utilise extra storage space as dormers have very little attic space for storage
